I fly tommorrow for Budapest in Hungary to join the shoot for Hellboy 2 and I thought it might be quite interesting for folk here if I did a sorta weekly journal thingy to give you some idea of the nonsense that goes on during the shooting of a movie....dishing the dirt and passing on the gossip as it were!!

So here's entry #1...a little background on my involvement in this job.

I've just spent the last 3 months or so working for British make up effects company Creature Effects, doing what are largly background characters for Hellboy 2 The Golden Army (to give it it's full title). Unfortunately I can't tell you any more than that, confidentiality clauses and the movie industries obsession with secrecy prevent me from revealing details...sorry!!

anyway!!....during the building of all these crazy background, goblin dudes (ooops!!...there's a little clue there for those who might have missed it!!) I got offered the job of applying the Hellboy stunt make-up being made in the States by Spectral Motion, having nearly finished at Creature Effects I of course said yes...actually I have to admit that make up isn't my first skill and I always get very nervous about make up jobs...so when I first got offered the job I nearly turned it down (being a total coward and kinda shitting it a little)...it wasn't until I saw the pay schedule that I said 'YES!!!'...haha....yes I AM a total whore!!

So I was supposed to have started the shoot about 5 weeks ago, but big movies are always chaotic affairs with ever shifting schedules and my start date kept getting delayed...no worries!...I'm still a little nervous about the job anyway so putting it off a little doesn't bother me much...

...Then the stunt man I was suppoed to be applying make up on had an accident on another job....so I wait some more!!...now, if you work in the film industry you get used to waiting a lot, but I'm also self employed so if I don't work I don't get paid and I'm now getting a little worried (And for anyone reading this and thinking 'hey!!...this guy's OBSESSED with money!!' I should like to point out that whilst what I do is fun, unusual, sometimes exciting and beats doing a proper job for a living it IS, at the end of the day, how I put food on the table and pay the mortgage!!).
Eventually the powers that be decide to fly me over anyway (phew!!)...I have several colleagues over there already and none of them are doing the jobs they were originally hired for so I'm figuring I'll be given SOMETHING to do until my stunt man gets mended!!
