Not much to say about him really. I've just started learning ZBrush and this is my first effort. There's a lot wrong with this; the neck got screwed when I tried to pose him, I squished and folded the mesh of his horns so badly I couldn't do anything with them and for some reason his edges were all jaggy and pixelated...go figure! I also think he's a bit 'ZBrushy' but I'll get better...honest! When I was sculpting him I thought he looked a bit like a native American and planned to give him a complete Sitting Bull makeover (bull...Minataur...get it?). But as soon as I started throwing paint on him all I could see was Morgan Freeman...so I went with it!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the very lovely, talented and patient Brooke Dibble for the lunch break tutorials, answering my dumb questions and never telling me to 'just read the bloody manual!' (I'm a guy...It's genetically impossible for me to read manuals!). Check out her work and say 'hi' at: [link]
P.S. I don't have 'other' views of him. For me ZBrush is going to be a design tool for creating 2D paintings, so this is all you get. He was finished in PhotoShop.
Good luck with learning Z brush. Never used it myself but I would point out that most people's mistake when posting Z brush art is a lack of attention to its default black shadows. Would suggest lighting stuff a bit better to bring out the forms, bit of a rim light or ambient light etc. Amazing sculpture work by the way!
That's a very good point...and maybe one of the reasons I can spot many 3D originated things a mile off (see my last journal entry). I'm hoping this wont be a problem in the future as I'm using the program purely for design purposes. My 'Goofy Alien' post was a way more primitive ZBrush sculpt, painted over in PhotoShop and I'm working on a piece right now where I simply used ZBrush to solve a compositional issue so nothing at all is left of the 3D model.
Thanks very much for the input, it's only when someone points something out that you kinda go 'Oh yeah...how blindingly obvious!'...
